Transfer ownership of a used vehicle
Seller and buyer report the sale to the RTO with Forms 29 and 30 through Vahan.
Time: Buyer applies within 14 days (same state) or 45 days (from another state)
What you need
- Form 29 (notice of transfer, from the seller) and Form 30 (application by the buyer)
- Original registration certificate (RC)
- Valid insurance and PUC certificate
- Buyer's PAN card or Form 60 and proof of address
Step by step
- On Vahan, enter the vehicle number and verify with the OTP
- Choose Transfer of Ownership and fill in the service and insurance details
- Pay the fee shown in the fee panel and upload documents if asked
- Submit the documents to the RTO as instructed for processing
